AmeriCorps*VISTA
The Advancement Foundation welcomes Terry Mazeika and Angelle Simmons to the team as the first wave of AmeriCorps*VISTA members! Both individuals, along with Foundation staff member Brittany Sandidge, attended the PSO in Atlanta, GA, and joined the national effort against poverty!

2009 December ~

The Foundation staff coordinated a strategic planning event for Big Brothers Big Sister of Southwest Virginia in early December. Hosted by Jay Warren, a BBBS Board member, the event set the stage for a highly successful positioning meeting between BBBS and local elected officials. The event was  attended by Vice Mayor Sherman Lea, City Council members Court Rosen and Anita Price, VA Delegate Morgan Griffith, former city mayor, Ralph Smith, and Darrel Helms of Salem Schools.
 
Of BBBS, Board Chair June House, members Greg Habeeb and Jay Warren, and Director Sheila Andrews led group discussions.
